Description
SELKIE is a 2018 Bavaria Vision 42 that represents a genuinely exceptional buying opportunity — a lightly used, comprehensively upgraded bluewater cruiser with EU VAT paid, full documentation, and a compelling story behind her.
She began life with Sail Ionian, one of the most respected charter operators in Greece. Crucially, as the 2-cabin version of the Vision 42, she was rarely requested by charter clients — making her effectively one of the lightest-used boats ever to enter and leave a charter fleet. She was subsequently acquired by a senior UK maritime official who, by profession and by nature, insisted on everything being done correctly and to the highest standard. Engine hours stood at just 900 at the time of purchase by the current owner, and are now a little over 1,000.
Since acquisition the current owners have invested heavily in transforming SELKIE into a modern, self-sufficient passage-maker. The upgrades are substantial: a very large lithium battery bank, twin Victron solar panels, a Victron 3kW charger/inverter, and a full DC air conditioning package serving all cabins and the saloon — a system that on a good sunny day runs entirely off solar. A new starter battery has also been fitted. Diesel heating provides warmth throughout for cooler passages.
The electronics package has been comprehensively renewed: a B&G Zeus 9" plotter in the saloon is paired with an external cockpit chartplotter, a new B&G Doppler radar has been added, and a new AIS transceiver fitted. The Bavaria luxury pack is installed, including electric tables and an additional water tank.
On deck, the sails are in good condition with no immediate replacement needed, and a brand new Code 0 has been added for light-air performance. The powerful bow thruster makes short work of any marina. The boat has been freshly antifouled with the saildrive serviced and a new propeller fitted. The grey hull is in great condition throughout.
Below decks she is well-presented with only the most minor marks to the woodwork — entirely consistent with her charter history and easily addressed. Cockpit comfort and protection is first class: full factory cushions, zip-on Bimini sun shades, an unused winter rain enclosure, and protective covers for the pedestal, wheel, winches, table and windows. A new dinghy with 2.5hp Suzuki outboard is included.
Finally, a 12m finger pontoon berth at one of mainland Spain's finest marinas — boasting an infinity pool and premium facilities — could potentially be available to the buyer, representing considerable added value in its own right.
EU VAT was paid in Greece and all relevant papers are present and correct.
